Check WebRTC and browser IP exposure

Learn how to inspect the network addresses exposed by browser communication features.

What WebRTC does

WebRTC supports real-time browser communication such as voice, video and data exchange. Depending on the browser and configuration, a diagnostic may show local or public network addresses. Seeing a private local address is different from exposing your normal public IP.

Use a dedicated browser test

Connect the VPN, then open the BrowserLeaks WebRTC test and compare its public-address result with the expected VPN route. The independent test provider receives the connection information involved in the test. You do not need to submit a VPN password or private key.

Balance privacy and functionality

If an unexpected public address appears, update the client and browser and consult their official guidance. Changing WebRTC settings can affect video calls, so retest the services you use afterwards. Avoid unknown extensions promising absolute leak prevention.

Make your next connection a private one.
